COVID - 19 Plan
It is our greatest wish to carry on and deliver our summer camps to our Super Scientists this July. With this in mind we are forced to put in place necessary measures to ensure the safety of everyone so we can carry on and have a great time. Please find attached our initial proposal to deal with the COVID-19 virus.
The week prior to the course we will send joining instructions and a copy of the final documents. We will continue to implement all instructions and advice to ensure the safety of us all in these times and will highlight any additional measures in our final document.
Our summer camps are, and always have been, focussed, small group events and therefore no participant is in contact with a large group environment at any time during the camp. We are currently capped at 10, if necessary this will be reduced to ensure safe distancing at all times.
To increase our space we have opened our new offices early allowing our participants to spread out more and create safe distancing at all times.
Currently we do not propose the use of plexiglass dividers however if this becomes necessary they will be installed prior to commencement.
Our facility will be deep cleaned prior to the summer camp and this procedure will be repeated each evening ensuring that every hard surface is sanitized before the next day. This involves the use of industrial-strength cleaners, as necessary in these circumstances, but we will clean as early as possible to allow maximum time for the dissipation of fumes and solvents.
Throughout the day participants will be reminded and encouraged to keep their distance from each other and wash their hands frequently, especially before eating or drinking. We will provide hand wash and sanitizer.
Face masks and other PPE such as masks and gloves may be worn if needed but should be supplied by the home if required. We stock PPE but it will be issued only if necessary.
Under no circumstances throughout the day shall any participant share PPE, equipment, tools, books, materials, food, drink, or any other item to ensure cross-contamination is not possible. In the event of accidental contamination the concerned participants shall be issued with brand new/sanitized work materials so they can continue safely.
Continuous monitoring of the participants shall be carried out and if anyone is seen to be displaying symptoms such as runny nose, repeated coughing, temperature, or illness of any kind, they will be issued with a face mask immediately and parents will be contacted to collect their child asap. Under these circumstances other parents will be informed if anyone attending the course has become unwell.
No person who is unwell may attend the camp. It is the responsibility of the parents to ensure that unwell children remain at home during the restrictions.
IF ALL PROTOCOLS ARE FOLLOWED NO-ONE SHOULD BE IN CLOSE CONTACT WITH A PARTICIPANT.
We ask that you complete all of the forms included in the joining instructions prior to the first day at camp. This will reduce the time required for each person to be present in the office.
On the first morning we will register each participant and ensure their emergency contacts are in place, confirm collection details then request parents leave as soon as possible to minimize the time in the office. If necessary we will have to request that participants waiting to register form a safely distanced queue outside the premises and we will process you one at a time, as quickly as possible, to minimize crowding.
All participants must be temperature monitored and confirm no symptoms are obvious prior to entering.
Subsequent mornings parents must-attend for temperature check & confirm no symptoms then may leave asap.
WE KNOW THIS IS DIFFICULT FOR EVERYONE BUT IT IS A REQUIREMENT OF BEING PERMITTED TO OPERATE SO WE MUST COMPLY.
END OF DAY PROCEDURE
At the end of the day parents may opt to wait outside the entrance, we request that you observe social distancing at all times, and we will bring their participants to them or call/ text from the roadside and we will walk them to the car.
WORK EQUIPMENT, MATERIALS & TOOLS
Every participant shall be issued with a sanitized box of materials/tools/equipment they will need for the camp. Their box will be clearly labeled.
None of these items or any other items can be shared or borrowed. If anyone needs a spare we have plenty of new/sanitized extras.
There will be no collaborative exercises at this time but each participant will be able to construct their own solutions to the challenges. All workpieces can be taken home at the end of the day there will be a quarantine zone for all completed work, if it needs to sit overnight.
FOOD AND DRINK
We request that all participants bring their own food to reduce the risk of cross-contamination. Each day a participant will need a lunch, mindful of allergy rules, and 2 snacks plus a refillable water bottle. Filtered water will be provided onsite.
